Urban Folk Artist: Haji Basim
Haji Basim, an award-winning, passionate and charismatic artist, announces his brand of music that expresses a unique approach and blend of Folk, Devotional, and World music. Basim is an accomplished internationally touring multi-Instrumentalist, who has mastered Guitar, Banjo, Ukulele, Sitar, etc. He is also a singer-songwriter, who has created a new diverse and spiritually upbeat genre called Urban Folk. His refreshing and innovative blend of folk falls somewhere in between the intimacy of artists such as Trevor Hall or Josè Gonzales and the sensuality and spiritual groove of performers such as Xavier Rudd or Nahko & Medicine For The People, just to mention a few.
“It is not genre that makes music great, but the ability to translate emotion and thoughts. For many years I have been busy training myself to create good music, reaching out to listeners with lots of energy, uplifting melodies, angelic vocals, and thought-provoking lyricism. I derive a lot of encouragement when I see how people react to my music at music concerts and music festivals across the world,” said Haji Basim.
Haji Basim’s brand of Urban Folk music was created from the influences of several styles including Folk, Soul, Hip Hop, Flamenco, Bluegrass, Bossa Nova and Neo Soul. In finding a deep connection with other genres of music, he has made it evident to audiences the world over.
Haji Basim also doubles as a sacred sound artist. With his array of sacred mantras and instruments from around the world such as the Sitar and Bansuri flute from India and the rhythmic Arabic tambourine known as the Riq. Basim creates a tapestry of healing and introspective music that captivate his audiences. As a meditation and yoga instructor, Haji Basim has facilitated tranquil sound healing concert all across the world.
“Basim is one artist you can never ignore when it comes to creating music that hits right at the top of your soul. He is creative, very professional, artistic and has a deep understanding of sound and rhythm delivery. He has all it takes to deliver a unique kind of music you have not heard before. I just can’t stop listening to him,” said Simon D, a fan.
