ABOUT YOUR GUIDES

CASEY PETERSEN: Casey is an athlete, i.e, youngest child in a competitive and loving family. Brought up on the kind streets of Costa Mesa, CA where she could roam the neighborhood from park to park without fear and just had to be home by dark. Soccer was her sport until a six inch growth spurt hit my whole body except my feet and then it was volleyball. In junior college off-season it was requested of Casey to take yoga, in hopes it would make me jump higher…fast-forward to current day and she is a 200-hour certified vinyasa yoga teacher. There were many adventures in athletics and yoga in-between, of course, and there still are today. Moving her body feels like home no matter where Casey goes with volleyball taking her to Holland and Huntington Beach, CA and yoga moving her to Seattle, WA. The stillness is the struggle and in that struggle…all my peace.

SILVIA MORDINI: Enthusiasm to love your life is contagious around Silvia. Her expert passion connects people to their own joyful potential. Silvia lives her happiness in such a big way that you can’t help but leave her classes, workshops, trainings and retreats spiritually uplifted!

Being a citizen of the world and spiritual adventurer is in her blood as she was raised traveling around the world. Silvia is an Experienced Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) with over 10,000 hours of teaching experience who has been practicing and teaching yoga for 15 years after being run over by a car and using it to recover physically and emotionally.

Silvia is the founder and former owner of Total Body Yoga, a Chicagoland studio and the creator of Alchemy of Yoga, a nationally recognized RYT200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program. She also founded Alchemy Tours to lead inspired Yoga Retreats all over the world. Silvia is currently writing a book about Prescriptions for Happiness and has a popular blog called Loving Your Life, along with producing her “Loving Your Day” videos. Her articles appear regularly in MindBodyGreen, Yogi Times, Elephant Journal, Yoganonymous, Do You Yoga, My Yoga Online, Lululemon’s Official Blog amongst others. She is a proud lululemon ambassador, Manduka ambassador, and Ombassador who offers popular workshops on Yogapreneurship, Rebel Spirit Flow, Living Your Yoga, Chakra Vinyasa, Meditation and Manifestation and more.

JACOB YOUNG: $15 at a yard sale in rural New Hampshire bought me freedom and forever ingrained my love of travel. My steel-framed 10-speed Peugeot opened my eyes—and my world—to a much larger arena. Born in California, raised in New Hampshire, resident of the world, at home in the Pacific Northwest. My passion is discovering the hidden gems and local customs of a region and then showing these new secrets to people and creating an experience.

I realized this passion for guiding in the year 1999 on Mt. Rainier. I guided a few friends to the top of this amazing peak, saw the look on their faces, and was hooked. Since then, I have been blessed to live and guide in some amazing places. Some of my favorites include Italy, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Moab, Sonoma, San Juan Islands, New Zealand, Mexico, and Ecuador.

Silvia and I started Alchemy Tours with the vision of offering clients something amazing. A remarkable thing happens on trip with us—whether it is a long weekend, or a more intensive Teacher Training program abroad (coming soon). We are always inspired by Paolo Coehlo’s The Alchemist and love to see this wonderful blend of yoga and active movement (cycling, hiking, surfing, horseback riding, running and more) turn to veritable gold. People learn more about themselves, and the yoga journey that Silvia takes us on while on retreat is her to the max.

When not guiding, you’ll find me back in Seattle enjoying quality time with those I love. I enjoy trail running, cycling, reading, cooking and educating myself about fine wines and craft ales. An ideal day includes stopping at the farmer’s market to dream up an elaborate dinner, then cooking and enjoying with family and friends.

As those closest to me can attest, I always urge you to, “Try Life. Live it!”

  1. Hi,

This is my first yoga retreat! I’m planning on going to Xinalani with my 17 year old daughter for March 29. Is there still space? I’d like to book the Eco-chic room for us, so it would be $4200?

    Thanks for your help,
    Natalie

  2. Hi Silvia/Casey, I would really like to join you on this retreat. I saw that you’re advertising a 10% discount for the big palapa, but it’s still listed as $1350 when I go to purchase it, so I’m not sure how to go about booking. Should I just select the $500 deposit option and pay the rest later? Please let me know.
    Thanks!
    Kelly
