WHERE IS HARAMARA?

Haramara (a sacred Huichol word for “Grandmother Sea”) is located amid the mountains in the most beautiful coastal region of the state of Nayarit in Mexico. Nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra Madre mountains, perched on a pristine natural beach, Haramara is an idyllic retreat offering outstanding serenity, stunning beaches and awe-inspiring scenery. The surroundings are marked by volcanic highlands, lakes and rivers, as well as innumerable beaches, many of which still remain untouched. The Pacific breeze keeps the climate deliciously mild. It is a harmonious space known by many yoga students as “a treasured sanctuary for the soul.”

HEALTHY, NATURAL CUISINE
Enjoy delicious gourmet meals served in a spacious open air palapa roofed restaurant overlooking the jungle and ocean.  Meals are tastefully prepared and served with beautiful and artistic presentations.  Our wait staff is friendly, well trained, and attentive to your needs.Haramara acknowledges that good nutrition and well balanced meals are an integral part of yoga, meditation, a good mind-body learning experience, and overall health and well being. You will be served 3 complete gourmet vegetarian meals per day.

The Dining Room

Placed amidst the jungle canopy our spacious open air dining room, hand-built of all natural materials with a soaring roof and handcrafted hardwood floors, is situated near the top of the property in the perfect location facing west to enjoy the jungle and ocean view throughout the entire day.  Eat breakfast listening to the birds, enjoy a quiet lunch at midday and linger over dinner while watching the sunset.

We know that good nutrition and well balanced meals are an integral part of your wellness practice leading to a complete mind-body learning experience and overall health and well-being.  Enjoy delicious gourmet meals tastefully prepared and artistically presented by some of the finest chefs in Mexico.

All meals are vegetarian based.  Tofu, fish or seafood is included once a day for protein.  All ingredients are fresh, natural, local and organic. The daily menus are carefully chosen by our head chef and are based on the ingredients that are available that day.

Special dietary needs and requests will gladly be accommodated.  Our kitchen staff and wait staff are friendly, well trained and attentive to your every need.

We have a selection of wines, beers and margaritas available for an additional cost to accompany your meals.

The Terrace 

Our terrace is located below our dining room, just in front of our boutique, with the same wonderful west facing view.  With comfortable chairs and umbrellas, our terrace offers a quiet place to sit and read or write in your journal, to enjoy a drink while watching the sunset or to connect with new and old friends.

2 YOGA STUDIOS

On two separate knolls, each with a different but expansive view, sit our two magnificent yoga shalas.  Each yoga shala has been hand-built of all natural materials with high roofs and handcrafted hardwood floors.  Both yoga shalas are positioned to take advantage of the panoramic and ever changing views of the lush mountains and vast ocean while also taking advantage of the soothing ocean breezes.

The Sunrise Shala sits at the top of the property facing primarily north and east with a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean and coastline to the north and the jungle and Sierra Madre Mountains to the east.  Our Sunrise Shala is fully open air and unenclosed.

The Sunset Shala sits on a promontory in the middle of the property facing primarily west with a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean and coastline from the south to the north of us.  Our Sunset Shala is fully open air but can be fully enclosed with folding doors.
